Professor Yu is currently the Director of Heart Centre of Hong Kong Baptist Hospital and Clinical (Honorary) Professor of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He was the past President of World Heart Failure Society, Chief of Cardiology and Chairman of Department of Medicine and Therapeutics at Prince of Wales Hospital, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), the Assistant Dean of Faculty of Medicine, CUHK, Director (Clinical Sciences) of the Institute of Vascular Medicine in CUHK and Director of the HEART Centre in CUHK.

Professor Yu had been serving as Associate Editor for many renowned medical journals including European Heart Journal, International Journal of Cardiology, Circulation Journal and Echo Research and Practice, and editorial board member/advisor for Nature Cardiology Review and Cardiovascular Drugs and Therapy.  He is also reviewer for over 35 international journals.  Professor Yu has published extensively with over 400 full scientific articles and as reviewer in refereed journals including New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Internal Medicine, Circulation, EHJ, JACC, IJC etc.  His work is frequently referred by peer groups with a total citation of over 12,500, and with H-Index of 69.  He has edited 12 books and authored over 30 book chapters.  Professor Yu has a board range of clinical and research specialization including interventional cardiology, heart failure, device therapy, echocardiography and cardiovascular imaging, and had participated in a large number of international multicenter clinical trials, including the capacity as principle investigator and steering committee members.  He has been frequently invited as a faculty speaker in prestigious cardiology conferences around the world, including AHA, ACC, ESC, and many more.  To date, he has delivered over 500 invited lectures worldwide.

Professor Yu also founded the first and the only Master degree for Cardiology program in Hong Kong with more than 550 graduates.  He had supervised many PhD and MPhil students. He had organized over 20 international Cardiology conferences and workshops as Program Director or Chairman
